Join our Clinical Research and Innovation team and contribute to clinical trials that shape the future of mechanical ventilation technology. As a Medical Research Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining data management tools, analyzing clinical study data, and collaborating with medical experts to generate valuable research insights and scientific publications.

Your Responsibilities

• Implement data management tools and automated workflow for clinical and medical device data, including data transfer, storage, conversion, anonymization, cleaning, quality validation, and filtering.
• Process and analyze medical device data, physiological signals, and time-series data to generate reliable, analysis-ready datasets.
• Conduct exploratory data analyses and perform software-based analyses of clinical study data to evaluate research hypotheses and support study reports, regulatory submissions, and scientific publications.
• Develop, implement, test, and validate electronic case report forms (eCRFs), clinical databases, including edit checks, and data review tools.
• Perform ongoing clinical data review, identify inconsistencies and missing data, and support edit checks, query management, reconciliation, and database cleaning activities.
• Coordinate and support clinical studies throughout the study lifecycle, including feasibility assessments, study start-up, site initiation, study conduct, close-out, and database lock.
• Support clinical project planning and tracking to ensure that study timelines, milestones, budgets, deliverables, quality objectives, and risks are effectively managed.
• Act as a key contact for investigators, study sites, CROs, EDC providers, external partners, and internal stakeholders (Regulatory and Clinical Affairs, Medical Experts, Engineering), ensuring clear communication, effective networking, and timely issue resolution.

That’s what you bring along:

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering, scientific, biomedical, statistics, data science, or related field.
• Strong programming skills in MATLAB and Python (experience in C++, C#, or C is a plus).
• Experience working with medical device data, physiological signals, or time-series data, including data acquisition, processing, quality assessment, and interpretation in a clinical or research setting. Familiarity with acute-care workflows, PDMS, and bedside device data integration is a plus.
• At least two years of hands-on experience in clinical studies, clinical data management (data review and query management), or clinical database development (eCRF design and testing).

• Experience working with clinical study teams, investigators, study sites, CROs, EDC providers, or other external clinical partners. Familiarity with electronic Case Report Form (eCRF) development, programming, and testing is a plus.

• Knowledge of clinical trial regulations (e.g., ISO 14155, GCP, MDR, FDA) and regulatory requirements for clinical data management incl. data protection regulations (GDPR, HIPAA).

• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage technical and clinical workstreams, deadlines, risks, and multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across technical, clinical, cross-functional, and international teams.
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data integrity, quality, regulatory compliance, and reproducible analysis. Background in statistical analysis and data interpretation for clinical research is a plus.
• Fluent in English, with strong documentation, presentation, and reporting skills. German is a plus.
• Self-motivated and proactive team player with the ability to work independently.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 10%.
